LANGUAGE OF THE BERDI

The speech of the Berdi is one that is very shortened and clipped. They also make use of a large number of acronyms whose origins are unknown to them; the acronym has become the word.

SEN - this is short for sentient being. It is the most common form of respectful address similar to Sir today. The term is not gender sensitive so both men, women and others all use the Sen. Although originally, the term was widely applied, today, it is used only among Beldin. Others races have no Sen before their name and the implication is that they are not fully sentient. Sen Gephalr, Sen Loriesa, Sen Talmas are examples.
