Geological Information on Greld

Mankind has been working on this world for 120,000 years. This is an instant of time geologically speaking, but Man will change a world far more quickly than The Elements. Some areas of the world have been completely subdued and altered by man, while some have been too inaccessible and useless to be much changed. Certain regions have been leveled by technological war and magical battles. All are now safe (no radiation), but by agreement are left uninhabited. The largest area is covered in a sheet of fused glass 200 miles in diameter. These changes have served to lower the overall surface area of the planet as well as lower the average altitude of the land.

Where man is likely to be, the land has been turned into a garden in subdued browns and grays. Thus, from almost anyplace on the globe you will see a completely flat landscape of dull brown. This dull brown is from the Selakter, a plant the acts as a ground cover, and is a excellent source of protien and vitamins. At extreme distances away from each other will be found one of the 45 varieties of tree that can be found.

The trees will each serve a part of the diet of any wanderer or nomad, but no single tree or even combination of 25 trees will sustain life without additional diet elements. So it is only by constant movement in small numbers that will allow one to survive. This has been done to allow maximum freedom to the disrupting elements without incarseration. It is impossible for large groups to survive out here. This make bannishment a primary punishment for recalcitrant citizens. It is also a place for non-natives to escape to, as it is only patrolled when a truly monumental crime has been committed. Thus by voluntary banishment is a common resort for those who realize that they can not escape capture, and do not want their name stained by the testimony of a trial.
