The continents were isolated from each other during the whole of the Dark Milenium and despite the length of life of elves and dwarfs, the languages of each race have changed somewhat from one land to another.

Most ancient languages are from a family that started on Greld. Currently, Greldians speak a clipped shortened version of the ancient tounge, Ferlaughin. This name is specific to Isis. The ancient tongue has many names. It is now a completely different language than was spoken, but the roots of words and sounds are taken directly from this older language. The Elves, Gnomes and dwarfs have always had their own language, though they usually knew Ferlaughin.

Now, a different variation of Ferlaughin is spoken in each continent. They are similar, and as they follow the same gramatical rules they are mostly easy to become somewhat proficient in.

Each calls their variation the "Common Tongue" and they are all right, as there are many regonal and political variations. There are several places where only the educated speak the continental version of common and the rest speak the reagonal tongue.
