Human Languages of SOS

The various planets of SOS have been separated for thousands of yearsand this is long enough for many different languages to arise. There arealso many Non-Human languages that are spoken. What follows is a list ofknown languages. Of course it is possible that new languages may be found, but they will not be in common use.

The Common Tongue is a artificial invention for the convience of theplayers and ref, and while it is a good tool, it is no longer necessary forexperienced players. In a system like SOS, each planet has it's ownlanguages or at least a very different dialect.

The history of the languages is the history of expansion. As humansspread from planet to planet, they took their languages along. During theBlack Time, contact between isolated worlds and areas ceased, and thespeach of these areas began to diverse. Thus, there are over 20 humanlanguages spoken. The greatest variety of languages is found on Tekumel, with The least being found on Greld, where there is a existing commontongue called Greltean.
